What We Do

Our Mission

At Beyond the Vows, our goal is to help couples learn how to live out their marriage with a biblical worldview, where husbands love their wives as Christ loves the church, and wives respect their husbands as the leaders that God created them to be.

Our coaching strategies are designed to teach couples biblical truths, while providing practical handles that can be implemented as they grow in their marriage.

We believe that each person is responsible for their spiritual, emotional, and mental growth. That is why we advise that each person begin by drawing a circle around themselves first, and only focus on the things they can control within the circle.

While no two marriages are alike, there are common challenges that all marriages must overcome. We will navigate these challenges one at a time through our topic driven, monthly coaching calls.

Stay encouraged by joining our newsletter. We'll share scripture, marriage tips, and helpful resources.

About Us

A Marriage His Way

Hello friend, David and Sheila Kelsey here! We look forward to being your marriage coaches. When asked, why Kingdom marriage coaching, the answer is simple. We've experienced marriage the world's way, which led to despair, destruction, and divorce. As we've grown in our marriage, we've learned how to do marriage God's way, and it has led to unity in Christ, each other, and God's word. Through our coaching approach, our desire is to help couples find the path to healing, redemption and restoration within their marriages. Having mentored and coached many couples, we've witnessed marriages heal and be restored, as they intentionally work to be the best version of themselves for God first, then their spouse.

What we've learned about living a biblical marriage:

  • Having a greater understanding of our identity is foundational

  • Experiencing great communication is possible

  • Deeper intimacy - spiritually, emotionally and physically

  • Learning how to love unconditionally

  • How to fight with honor (conflict and resolution)

  • Develop a spirit of generosity

  • Becoming a good steward of the gifts we have been given

At Beyond The Vows, we believe that advancing God's Kingdom starts in the home with the one relationship God has ordained. We equip couples with godly principles, and proven methods that will allow them to create a thriving marriage centered on God's word.

Testimonials

Don't Take Our Word For It

"We thank God for bringing David and Sheila into our lives. Their faith, wisdom, and love for God’s design for marriage have impacted us deeply. At a time when our marriage was struggling, they poured into us—helping us grow as individuals and as a couple. Through their guidance, we’ve faced parenting, intimacy, and communication challenges with renewed strength and faith. Our marriage is stronger today because of God working through them. Thank you, David and Sheila, for your love, support, and obedience to God’s calling!"

Barrhet & Amber Smith

"Thank God for David and Sheila. They are a true blessing, as they embody the essence of a Godly marriage. Their union is a shining example of what it means to have God at the center. They have been instrumental in our lives, providing guidance and support during times of need and transition. David and Sheila's dedication to our marriage has been a catalyst for growth, helping us become better partners and parents. They have reminded us that, together, we can overcome any challenge. We are forever grateful for their presence in our lives, as they have shown us what it means to build a marriage on a foundation of love, trust, and faith. We love you guys!"

Usiel & Maria Valdez

"We’re truly thankful for David and Sheila and the impact they’ve had on our marriage. When we first joined the class, we weren’t even married yet, but they welcomed us, walked alongside us, and gave us the kind of guidance we didn’t even know we needed. Their example has helped us build a strong foundation, not just in how we love each other, but in how we keep God at the center, even when life gets messy. They’ve reminded us that it’s okay to face struggles, and that growth comes through being intentional, forgiving, and choosing us daily. We’ve learned so much from their knowledge, wisdom and faith, and we’re just really grateful to have had them walk this journey with us."

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from counseling & therapy?

Counseling & therapy usually address past hurts, wounds and unresolved emotional triggers from a clinical perspective. That requires a licensed professional to diagnose and treat. Our approach is focused on individual growth from this point forward, by learning biblical principles that will teach you how to respond from a biblical perspective. The healing that one might receive would be from a spiritual perspective, from the inside out. This would be referred to as breaking strongholds.

What is a Kingdom marriage coach?

Similar to a business coach, a marriage coach helps the couple clarify the vision for their marriage, establish a mindset based on biblical principles, set and achieve goals, and teaches them how to apply the principles in their marriage.

How do I know if this approach is best for our situation?

We encourage each couple to pray and come into agreement prior to committing to coaching. A few things to consider are, "Do I/we need help understanding what God says about marriage?", "Could we benefit from learning how to best honor, serve, love and respect one another?", and "Our marriage is good right now, but we'd love to go from good to best."

What if my spouse isn't ready to commit to this?

While it is ideal for both spouses, there are times when only one spouse can commit. We have seen growth in couples where only one spouse is actively participating in learning and growing. This is due to the "draw the circle around yourself first" approach. It may take a little extra time, but growth is still possible even if only one spouse is in attendance.

What kind of time commitment is expected of us?

When you get started, you can expect a minimum, monthly commitment of 2 hours, per spouse. We will host one, 60 minute Zoom call for all participants, and one, 60 minute gender-specific call each month. Once the community is live and you have access to it, you will have access to the anytime replays, additional tools and resources, as well as community support and interaction as often as you like.

Is this a faith-based coaching community?

Beyond the Vows is a no apologies, faith-based coaching community. The foundation of what we do is all biblically

based, with an intentional focus on helping couples learn what it looks like to live a God centered marriage. You can expect to hear scripture mentioned often in our sessions.

Do we have to attend every session live?

While we strongly encourage everyone to attend our live calls, we understand that sometimes things come up. Therefore, replays will be made accessible.

What kind of results can we expect from this coaching?

It sounds cliche to say, "results may vary", but it very much is the case when it comes to this. The results of each couple are dependent on their individual situation. For some, this will be what brings their marriage back from the brink of divorce, for others it may be a way to boost their already good marriage. And in some cases, this could be the perfect fit for a newly married couple, or a couple that is new in their faith walk. Investing the time, effort and education in yourself and your marriage has the potential to change generations starting with you.

How much does this cost?

Our coaching services are $89, monthly, per couple. In addition to that, there is a one-time $25 fee to access the private community. There are no contracts to sign, so you can remain an active client as long as you like.

Can we cancel if we decide it's no longer a good fit?

We understand that our coaching may be a fit only for a season, that is why we have made it very simple for memberships to be canceled at any time. We only ask for a 30 day notice of cancellation.
